Verde Valley AZ (April 10, 2014) – On April 22, 2014 from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM at the Sedona Red Rock High School, Performing Arts Center, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road, Sedona, AZ 86336, the Verde Valley Regional Economic Organization is hosting an Education Forum featuring the latest research on the state of education in Arizona and the Verde Valley and the workforce needs of the Northern Arizona business community.
Speakers for the event include Dan Hunting, Arizona State University Morrison Institute: the Arizona Commerce Authority and business leaders from APS, Mold In Graphic Systems, Verde Valley Medical Center; Salt River Materials Group; Yavapai-Apache Nation and Arizona Wine Growers Association. The presentations will be followed by questions from the leadership of the education institutions in Northern Arizona and the audience.
As global competition for talent, industry and trade intensifies, education and economic development can no longer be viewed as separate systems. Education is clearly Arizona’s primary engine for economic growth, from early childhood learning to high school and other postsecondary pathways that align with good jobs in high-growth sectors. In order to fuel and fine tune the engine, educators, businesses and economic developers need to create feedback loops enabling each to understand the changing challenges. This education forum is designed to be one of the first steps in stimulating this dialog in the Verde Valley and beyond.
