Sedona AZ (October 9, 2013) – Victoria Z Rivers is holding a studio sale of stunning one-of-a-kind necklaces, bracelets and earrings featuring antique Moroccan talismans, charms and amulets using sterling silver and artist-made findings and chains. Some of the pieces also include antique Mediterranean coral and antique trade beads. As a world-wide traveler, collector and professor, she recently returned from Morocco with a carefully curated selection of rare and fabulous pieces for her studio sale. A rare group of antique textiles from Victoria’s personal collection will also be on sale.
The 3 day sale, at 130 Mission Road in Sedona runs from Oct. 11 and 12 from 10-5, and Oct. 13 from 12-5.
A Professor Emeritas in Design at the University of California Davis, she and husband John Salkin recently retired to Sedona. Some of Victoria’s professional accomplishments include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, and a Fulbright/Indo-American Fellowship for research in India.
As an artist, researcher and scholar, she has delivered lectures, key-note addresses and presentations nationally and internationally. Solo and group shows include venues in Japan, Switzerland, New Zealand, Ghana, Swaziland, China, and the Cook Islands, as well as throughout the USA.
She authored a book, The Shining Cloth: Dress and Adornment that Glitter, published in London and New York, and has written chapters and articles on world textiles and dress in many publications.
