Topics: Fire Safe Sedona and recreation center brainstorming
SEDONA, Ariz. – The city of Sedona will hold a Community Conversation public meeting to talk about two important topics: Fire Safe Sedona and emergency preparedness, and a brainstorming session for a recreation center. This event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2026 from 4 – 6:30 p.m. at the Community Library Sedona, located at 3250 White Bear Rd.
Fire Safe Sedona and Emergency Preparedness, 4 – 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy a short presentation about the new Fire Safe Sedona program and emergency preparedness. After the session, the City Council will encourage interactive dialogue with participants.
After the discussion, there will be tables with information about evacuation zones, native fire-resistant plants, preparing an emergency Go-Bag, and how to sign up for emergency text alerts.
Recreation Center, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
The community will hear a short presentation from the Parks and Recreation Department about the possibility of developing a Recreation Center. Participants will then brainstorm ideas about what they’d want to have in a vibrant Recreation Center.
This Community Conversation is the second in an ongoing series of conversations the City Council launched to involve the community on varying themes. These meetings aim to increase public participation, build positive relationships, create dialogue with the public on current issues, and inform future policy decisions the council makes.
A free art activity will be available for children.
The next Community Conversation will be on Arts and Culture, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.
