Camp Verde, AZ- Tuesday, October 14th at 5pm at Camp Verde Community Library Sedona Poet Laureate Gary Every will lead a poetry workshop titled “Sacred Spaces, Sacred Rituals, and Sacred People”.

Poetry is necessary, it appears in our lives in ways we take for granted.  We turn to poetry during times of celebration or look for solace during periods of great loss

Poems are read during important ceremonies such as weddings, graduations, and funerals.  We often look to the heightened language to mark rites of passage, helping us navigate the future

Often in times of crisis we remember lines of a poem shared with us decades earlier by a grandparent, teacher, or close friend and find comfort.

The elevated emotions of poetry can help transform daily tasks such as making breakfast for a child before school, a daily commute, or moments of quiet reflection into sacred acts of prayer.

When we write poetry we write about the places, people, and actions which transform our lives from the mundane to the magical on Tuesday October 14th at 5pm at the Camp Verde Library.  Participants should bring pens, paper, curiosity and wonder

Gary Every is the inaugural Poet Laureate of Sedona and has been published in hundreds of literary journals, science fiction magazines, and nature periodicals.  He has been nominated for Pushcart Prizes and the Rhysling Award for science fiction poem of the year seven times.  He is currently the host of the literary radio program The Poetry and Prose Project on Mellow Mountain Radio 106.5 and 780 AM every Sunday morning at 630.

Camp Verde Community Library is located at 130 N Black Bridge Road just off Montezuma Castle Highway in Camp Verde. Does it Really Matter?

Does it matter if life is illusory or real, if this a material world like most everyone thinks or a dream? It looks and feels real, it offers sensations and feelings that attest to its realness.
