SEDONA, AZ – Professional photographer Michael Knapstein will present at the meeting of the Sedona Camera Club starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 25th, at the Christ Lutheran Church, 25 Chapel Rd, Sedona. Doors open at 5:30.
A Wisconsin-based fine-art photographer, Michael will give a virtual presentation which will provide something of interest for all photographers, from beginners to seasoned professionals.
Michael will share work from several portfolios of images from the American Midwest that have won national and international accolades and been exhibited in 23 countries around the world.
He will discuss some of the many markets available for photographers today and show how he has found that audiences demand different styles of photographs, distribution, pricing and even different ways of speaking about photographic works.
Michael Knapstein has earned international recognition for his insightful and nuanced visual exploration of the American Midwest. Michael was counted among “14 Inspiring American Artists” by Skillshare and Feature Shoot. His photographs have been featured in more than 325 exhibitions in a variety of museums, galleries and festivals. Knapstein’s images have also received more than 350 awards in some of the world’s most prestigious photography festivals and competitions. His work is included in numerous public, private and corporate collections.
Michael’s photographs began attracting national attention while he was still in high school. At the age of 17, he was the youngest photographer to have a solo exhibition at the Steenbock Gallery of the Wisconsin Academy of Science, Arts and Letters. The following year his work was accepted into the permanent collections of the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film.
After graduating from the College of Fine Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin, Knapstein began a 30+ year career in the world of advertising. He held a variety of creative and leadership positions, ultimately heading one of Wisconsin’s largest advertising agencies. These years helped hone his use of design, eye movement tracking, semiotics and storytelling – all skills that he now applies to his photography.
Presentations, hosted by the Sedona Camera Club, are free to members. There is a $5 fee for guests. Local photographers are encouraged to join to support bringing high-quality speakers to promote interest in photography and develop photographic skills. Membership costs $35 for the whole year.
