… I spent some time on raptor shots today … the old and new. The Peregrine Falcon above is a relatively new shot from Lake Pleasant during the time we had a Peregrine making regular appearances down there. He had just taken off from Peregrine Island ( a very temporary island)and swung back at us just a few feet above the water and at a distance of less than twenty feet. Awesome to think that they are the fastest living creatures on our little planet … clocked at 240 mph in a stoop (dive).
Below is a Coopers Hawk that I shot back in 2006 with an Olympus E-1 camera … it was only a 5 MP camera, but a very sweet shooting camera and many of my best shots were taken with one of them. The Peregrine above I shot with a Canon R5 45 MP camera. Thanks to the amazing processing programs we have today I can go very large with the older files.
A relaxing week so far and allowing at least an hour after the morning exercises to enjoy my home roasted coffee/espresso before thinking about the tasks I have laid out for the day … something special about those early rays of light now and taking the time to enjoy earth coming to life … then my birds/squirrels/deer get fed and the day is underway. I’ve been roasting my own coffee for about twenty years now and that’s how long I have been doing business with Burman Coffee Traders. The coffee is beyond anything you will find in a store and since you are roasting relatively small batches, the coffee is always fresh. You can also mix different roasts of the same bean and get every possible flavor nuance from the bean; usually I do a blend of a medium and dark roast.

For a few hours here in the still morning I wash myself
clean of civilization, and purge myself of things and
