    Dear Editor:

    Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes

I am writing to strongly advocate for Yavapai County Proposition 479, an essential measure designed to address our county’s growing needs without raising taxes. This proposition focuses on maintaining critical services rather than funding new projects and seeks to update the state’s outdated spending cap to reflect our current realities, including population growth, technological advancements, and high inflation.

Over the past 40 years, Yavapai County has experienced significant growth. The spending cap established decades ago, by the state of AZ, is no longer sufficient for our thriving community. It’s time for us to take control of our financial resources and decision-making by empowering our locally elected County Board of Supervisors rather than relying on state-imposed restrictions.

A Win-Win Proposition: Essential Services Without Raising Taxes

Proposition 479 offers a practical solution to address pressing needs such as infrastructure improvements, public-facing websites, road repairs, and advanced equipment for public safety and search and rescue operations. Despite having the necessary funds, the current spending cap limits our ability to address these critical areas. This proposition allows us to effectively fund these essential services without increasing taxes, ensuring that we can continue to support our growing community.

I also want to acknowledge the dedication of the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, whose commitment to public safety is vital to our county’s high quality of life. Maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure and safety must remain a priority for all of us.

Please note that Proposition 479 is a county measure with no tax increase, distinct from Proposition 478, which is a separate city proposition in Prescott that involves raising sales tax. These initiatives are unrelated, so please keep this in mind when voting.

For these reasons, I urge you to vote “Yes” on Yavapai County Proposition 479. Your support will help ensure that our county can effectively meet its needs and continue to thrive.

Thank you for considering this important issue.

    Sincerely,

    Yavapai County Sheriff David Rhodes

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
