… what an absolutely delightful weekend this was … lots of time with friends … projects done and hours noodling through old photographs. A terrific new week is underway and methinks that it will be filled with beauty and time with friends … my updated faceting machine is back and gem cutting projects will continue … too, I made myself a nice bolo tie using boulder opal I bought more than forty years ago … I like it and photo will follow.
The photo above is of a couple of Golden Retrievers from one of Fran’s nearly annual litters back in 2006. Fran had the puppies trained and then through her foundation donated them as service dogs to autistic kids or to hospitals. She was a wonderful person and friend and is missed. The camera I used was pretty much state of the art then, an Olympus E-1 5MP camera …
The last photo below is a shot of a cactus flower with a couple of bees harvesting nectar to take back to the hive and in the process assure the continuation of the flower species too … pretty neat the way things work in nature. Taken in 2010 with an Olympus E-3, a 10MP camera … think this was taken on the side of a parking lot on SR179 in the village.
The first shot below is a juvenile Bald Eagle taking off from a large rock on the shore of Lake Pleasant in 2021 with a Canon 1DX MK III. I love the patterns that the feathers create …. almost like a fine piece of tapestry or other work of art. This was the last of my mirrored digital cameras as later in the year I went all mirrorless and changed everything to mirrorless camera systems to wit the Canon R5 and associated lenses designed for the mirrorless cameras.
I love the mirrorless cameras but sometimes yearn for the optical viewfinder. In about six to eight weeks my new Canon R5 MK II bodies will be arriving … the never-ending pursuit for the finest equipment and yet when I look at images that I have taken eighteen and more years ago I see very lovely photos that I am still proud of. I’ve been shooing all digital for 26 years now and film for a great many years before that and I still like a lot of the film shots too, many of which are digitized!

In addition to sales of photographs already taken Ted does special shoots for patrons on request and also does air-to-air photography for those who want photographs of their airplanes in flight. All special photographic sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
