Sedona News – The Sedona-Oak Creek Airport Authority (SOCAA) announces that the Sedona Airport on Wed, October 25th hosted the Sedona Art’s Center Sedona Plein Air Festival. Artists arrived between 3 and 4 pm and selected from one of four locations to paint from nature. Options were the Northern end of Tabletop Mesa, an elevated area near the helipads, the Airport Terminal, and the Airport Scenic Overlook. They painted from nature with the light changing over the next several hours and gathered in the Airport Terminal by 6pm to frame and show their just-finished artworks.
They were met by a crowd eager to view the over twenty pieces of oil, pastel, and watercolor paintings. The collection was an impressive display of the many facets of the airport and its surroundings. The airport is a proud contributor to the local arts community, having hosted this event for the second consecutive year with the intention of making it an ongoing tradition.
Airport Director, Ed Rose stated: “The Authority is ecstatic about its partnership with the Sedona Arts Center and looks forward to cultivating this relationship further. Airports and the arts, it’s a natural relationship.”
