Sedona AZ News – – On May 23rd the Sedona City Council met to discuss a proposed ordinance to remove unsafe off highway vehicles from all Sedona roads.
In this follow up video interview with Carl Jackson, Mayor Jablow discusses the proposed OHV ordinance, including what Sedona might look like if the ordinance passes.
Will OHVs be banned on city roads? How about on SR 179 and SR 89a
Aren’t OHVs street-legal in Arizona, or does the city have the legal authority to ban unsafe OHVs?
And if they can’t be on public roads, how will OHVs get to motorized trailheads leading into the Coconino National Forest?

All seems self explanatory and logical but we are in illogical times with illogical people in Government and big business so the wheels on this will turn ever so slowly and likely for years. After all we live in a no helmet state for motorcyclists and have dedicated hunting days for kids only so what could go wrong?
Also the park service is basically broke minus a single POTUS paycheck donated as an insult to the Forest Service and National Park employees after wiping out their budget to divide amongst all the employees and park equipment maintenance for each of the parks nationally so getting them to invest in studies and expansion of parking is likely last on their lists.
Budget: especially when the Natioanl Park System has nothing to do with our National Forests.
Park system, monuments, wilderness all run by the Department of Interior. National Forests are run by the Department of Agriculture with a totally different mission.
Makes it all more confusing.
Don’t see any Dept of Agriculture or Dept if Interior Park Rangers or Patrol vehicles on our National Forest/BLM lands but do see Park Service Rangers and vehicles out there. Wonder why that is?
One comment I have for Mayor Jablow is please, please, please don’t roll over to any threats from the Goldwater Institute. Fight! The city has a goodly amount of money coming in from STRs and tourism and it is completely worthwhile to spend some of that money fighting the “no government” crazies at Goldwater who have ruined our neighborhoods and caused so many other problems. Too many communities have just given up when threatened by the Goldwater Institute. Let’s not be one of those communities. Let’s fight for every inch of OUR RIGHT to exercise LOCAL CONTROL over our community, our neighborhoods and our culture.
Your comments are good and spot on, our worst problem is Air B&B and guess what? Our governor didnt give a hoot about local control….Lets face it…..Its about the money, local control be damned!
