Sedona, AZ- War…What is it good for?

Obviously, it is good for those who profit from destruction and the taking of human life.

And what is the common denominator, the impetus for war throughout the centuries? It’s about the acquisition of land, by force, deceit or any other means possible.

During the holidays I went to a party where this retired couple were recounting a land dispute they were having with their neighbor.

It seems their neighbor was claiming an extra six feet on their property line and the animosity had grown so strong that they were now in court trying to settle whose six feet of land it was.

Prior to the dispute they had been friendly but now they had become arch enemies, all for a tiny piece of land.

Lat’s think on a grander scale. Consider all the world wars, the empirical desires of the great dynasties, the wars that raged across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Mid-East, here in the United States, since the beginning of conscious time. Everyone was fought over land.

Forget negotiation. The shortest route to taking what another has if they resist is to simply kill them.

And the only way to stop another from taking what you have by mortal force is to kill them as well.

The fight over land and its riches started long ago when humans were relegated to using their hands and teeth, rocks and sticks to take what they wanted or defend against the usurpers.

As time moved on they developed spears, knives, swords, arrows, bullets, bombs, missiles and weapons we don’t hear about.

From rocks to nuclear devices, the power of these death devices increased exponentially. But the root cause of war, the desire to take what one wants by force, never diminished.

Empires have fallen. Countries have been vanquished and enslaved. Innocents have been vaporized. Entire civilizations have been wiped out but there are those, through the centuries of war, who always win and are never defeated. Those are the ones who create and sell the weapons needed to fuel the wars.

From the manufacturers of sharpened sticks to those who manufacture hypersonic jets and missiles, they make huge profits from the killings of opposing forces.

The makers of weapons made zillions during the last world wars and occupations like the Viet Nam war and Middle East conflicts.

They have raised the bar with the war in Ukraine where everybody and their mothers are making blood money hand and foot.

Manufacturers can barely meet the demands of this modern war. The U.S., France, Great Britain, Iran, the Chinese and even the impoverished North Koreans are gorging themselves on the killings.

And they could not care less of the displacement of millions of people because of this war. Families torn apart, children suffering, young men dying, no big deal.

The bottom line is all that matters.

And the purveyors make it a point for the tax-paying public, that the money on weapons is well spent protecting democracy and freedom around the world. And the public believes them. It’s the law of the jungle.

For those who disdain killing and love living things it’s incomprehensible to consider making a profit from the killing of other human beings. The truth is, if they don’t take up a sword to stop others from killing them, their families and taking what they own, they will find themselves enslaved by the conquerors.

The gentle need to understand that there are those who are ruthless and have no qualms about taking a life to get what they want; for whom human life means nothing, who don’t think twice about killing others to achieve their goals.

These type humans exist at the highest levels of society and at the lowest level where street thugs would kill an elderly woman to take the contents of her purse with nary a thought. While at the highest level they could not care that hospitals and churches are bombed or that at a thermonuclear device is dropped on a sleeping city, as what happened in Japan at the end of WWII.

Do you think that investors in the corporations that make machines that kill give a hoot about the suffering of those they finance?

These investors justify their investments and the resultant deaths by believing they do it to protect their own homes and interests.

Truth be told, they could be right because you can bet their enemies are ready to pounce at the slightest hint of weakness.

Then the key to war is greed. The desire to take what another has by force, as demonstrated in the now by what’s happening in Ukraine, and the will to stop another from taking it, proves while human nature remains the same, war will never end.

Humanity bleeds by the will of those who want it all.
