Prescott News – On Friday, January 24, Prescott’s 4th Friday Art Walk will welcome art enthusiasts to explore 16 downtown galleries showcasing local and nationally acclaimed artists. These galleries extend their hours each month and offer unique exhibits, artist receptions, and signature events.

20241212 4thFridayArtWalk2Prescott, surrounded by cool mountainous forests, has long inspired its resident artists. The Art Walk provides a unique opportunity to meet these artists, gain insight into their creative processes, and immerse in the community. Historic buildings serve as a striking backdrop, preserving Prescott’s rich heritage.

Since its founding in 2004, the 4th Friday Art Walk has been a celebrated evening for Prescott’s visual arts community. Participating galleries host evening events beginning at 5 pm each month. Visitors can pick up gallery guides at participating locations, hotel brochure racks, and the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.

The two featured galleries for the January Art Walk are Gallery Beyond Words and Van Gogh’s Ear.

At Gallery Beyond Words, located at 204 N. McCormick Street, visitors will find a showcase of Annie Alexander’s Framed Handmade Paper. Annie Alexander has spent decades in Prescott, AZ, creating her vision of handmade paper. She uses the medium she has coined, Transdimensional Sculpture, to “bring beauty into the world.” Aided by the flora and fauna of the Central Highlands of AZ, Annie’s work reflects the texture and story of this region. “This is what the world needs.” -Kohen H.

Gallery Beyond Words will be open from 4-7 pm.

At Van Gogh’s Ear, located at 156 S. Montezuma Street, visitors can start the 2025 season with the rockin’ sounds of Boy’s Makin’ Noise. Musicians Dennis Bennet and Colin Walterson will play tunes while visitors view local artwork and enjoy a glass of wine or beer.

Van Gogh’s Ear will be open from 5:00-8:30 pm.

    What Would I Change?
    By Amaya Gayle Gregory

What would I change if I could? You and I both know I can’t, but it’s a fun exercise anyway. I would have been less of a know-it-all on my spiritual journey. It seems to be a side-effect of the path. Spiritual folks develop an all-knowing buffer to protect against their inevitable surrender to the unknown, but understanding that now didn’t make it gentler on me or those I loved, let alone those that I deemed not capable of getting it 😉 Yeah … I’d have dropped the spiritual snob act. I’d have recognized that spiritual radicals are only different on the outside from radical right Christians, and that the surface doesn’t really matter as much as I thought. We are all doing our couldn’t be otherwise things, playing our perfect roles. I’d have learned to bow down humbly before my fellow man, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not. We’re all in this together and not one of us will get out alive. Read more→
