Clarkdale AZ (October 31, 2019) – The Yavapai College Verde Valley Campus Library is hosting a variety of events in November.
Artwork by local artists. Beginning October 31 through the end of November the library will feature watercolor paintings by talented local artists.
Discussions about the book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Yavapai College welcomes the public to read along with us in the “Riders Read” program. The current selection is the fascinating book The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Topics explored in the book range from race, class, gender, medical ethics, healthcare access and its’ profits. Two book discussions will be held:
- Thursday, November 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Science, Ethics, and Research with biology professor Joanne Oellers and Theresa Schwickerath.
- Thursday, November 14th from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Health care and Ethics with nursing professors Cindy Schroeder and Elizabeth Franco.
Discussion led by local Author, Iris Yang, about the book, Wings of a Flying Tiger. On Tuesday, November 12 at 2:00 p.m., join local author Iris Yang for a discussion about her book Wings of a Flying Tiger. The author tells the story of one cousin’s courage and another’s determination to help a wounded American pilot during World War II in Japanese occupied China.
Distinguished Guest Lecture Series, Healthy Boundaries in Every Day Life. On Wednesday, November 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., attend the presentation Healthy Boundaries in Everyday Life by licensed associate counselor and adjunct faculty member Chris Hout. Meet in the library to get the answers to questions such as, “How can I draw a line in the sand with someone I care about?” and “What are healthy and unhealthy boundaries?” Presented as part of the Distinguished Guest Lecture Series.
