Verde Vallley News – Yavapai College has been named a finalist for the 2024 Bellwether Award by the Bellwether College Consortium. The annual Bellwether Award is a highly sought-after national peer award for which community colleges must apply and compete to win.

Each year, ten finalists are selected in each of the three categories of Instructional Programs and Services, Planning, Governance, and Finance, and Workforce Development.

This marks the third time Yavapai College has been named a Bellwether finalist in the last four years.
YC was selected in 2024 in the Planning, Governance, and Finance category for the formation and implementation of its all-college council.

In 2023, YC was named a finalist in the category of Workforce Development, and in 2022, for Instructional Programs and Services.

“Yavapai College is honored and proud to be a finalist for the Bellwether Award. Being named a finalist for this award solidifies our commitment to our students and communities by delivering on our mission and providing innovative programs that are accessible and affordable.”, said Dr. Lisa B. Rhine, President of Yavapai College.

Finalists are invited to engage in an immersive, interactive final round of competition at the 2024 Community College Futures Assembly in February in San Antonio, Texas.

Three nationally representative panels of distinguished guests will serve as judges. They will select a Bellwether Award winner from each of the three categories.

The Bellwether College Consortium is comprised of award-winning colleges charged with addressing critical issues facing community colleges through applicable research and the promotion and replication of best practices addressing workforce development, instructional programs and services, and planning governance and finance.
