Sedona AZ (September 22, 2015) – The Verde Valley Weavers & Spinners Guild is excited about their first public sale this October. A wide variety of one-of-a-kind fiber art creations will be offered in the sale beginning October 1 through October 4 in the Special Exhibition Gallery at the Sedona Arts Center, 15 Art Barn Road in Uptown Sedona, Arizona. A portion of the sales benefits the Guild and will be used to continue to provide educational programs.
The show is open from October 1 through October 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily in addition to the Opening Reception which will be on Friday, October 2 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with refreshments. Credit cards are accepted and this will give everyone a chance to speak with the artists and learn more about Fiber Art.
From handwoven garments, tapestries, shawls, to woven baskets, jewelry, placemats, table runners and ornaments, the selection for giving that special unique gift to yourself or others is varied. Members will also be giving demonstrations on loom weaving, spinning, basketweaving and jewelry making throughout the sale.
The Verde Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild is a 42 year old nonprofit whose mission is to encourage interest and education in the art of handweaving, spinning and related crafts. Monthly meetings are held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Sedona from September through June. Meetings are open to those who are interested in weaving and related crafts with member education programs and community outreach such as volunteering at Rainbow Acres in their weaving department which they were instrumental in establishing. Each year the guild exhibits their work at the Sedona Public Library, Verde Valley Fair and Clarkdale Library.
