In addition, ‘Twice Nice Fall Thrifty’ set for Oct. 3 in Camp Verde
COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — After a successful Twice Nice Spring Thrifty event in Sedona a year ago, Verde Valley Sanctuary (VVS) announced they will host two events in 2026 to coincide with national Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April and Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October
On Saturday, April 4, VVS will welcome the community to their Twice Nice Thriftique location in Sedona where for every three items donated, attendees will receive a raffle ticket they can enter into a drawing for a free Apple iPad. Visitors will be able to purchase more raffle tickets for entry into the drawing if they choose. Attendees will not need to be present to win.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the Verde Valley back for Spring Thrifty at Twice Nice. Last year’s event exceeded our expectations, and the energy in the store was incredible,” Twice Nice Sedona store manager Alicia Henson said. “Events like this remind us why we do what we do – bringing people together in a fun way in support of our mission.”
Henson added that the Twice Nice Thriftique will also offer a 50% off sale during the April 4 event.
“The 50% off sale always draws a crowd, and the opportunity to receive a raffle ticket by donating three items is a great way for people to participate and give back,” Henson said.
The Sedona event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1225 W. State Route 89A and will feature a few different culinary options for the community to enjoy under a comfortable canopy provided by Verve Events & Tents.
First, Loquita Cocina will be on hand to serve their fresh burrito options that include a Cuban black bean, organic grass-fed beef, a chorizo with free range eggs, and a vegan version with Mexican rice. They also make their own salsa and guacamole. The amazing folks from the Cheeky Kiwi Ice Cream truck will be on hand, and don’t forget, Blackhawk Coffee has already become a staple at Twice Nice in Sedona.
Loquita Cocina, Cheeky Kiwi and Blackhawk Coffee will all donate a percentage of their proceeds from sales back to VVS.
Entertainment wise, Yavapai Broadcasting is scheduled for a live remote radio visit from KVRD Country 105.7 FM along with their booth and famous prize wheel, and Kaleidoscope Redrocks, a multi-instrumentalist sister duo out of Sedona, will play their best tunes into the afternoon.
“The community absolutely embraced the Spring Thrifty event last year, so we knew then that it would be another exciting opportunity to host the event in 2026,” VVS Development and Communications Director Brian Bergner said. “We are excited to invite the Sedona and Verde Valley community once again. April is a great time for locals to complete their spring cleaning, and we’d love it if they chose to donate their items to Twice Nice for a good cause.”
The VVS’ Outreach and Lay Legal team will also have a booth to answer any questions community members might have. VVS began in 1993 as a grassroots organization with a leased modular home that slept six and has grown into a 28-bed emergency shelter with transitional housing options, lay legal advocacy services, community-based advocacy support, a 24/7 crisis hotline (928-634-2511), violence prevention education, and more.
The Twice Nice Thriftiques in Sedona and Camp Verde account for 20-25% of the agency’s annual operating budget, assisting VVS in executing its mission to provide safety, services, and comfort to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
“These thrift stores allow us to serve our clients by providing them with much-needed clothing, shoes, outfits for job interviews and more,” Bergner said. “And it’s all free to them.”
In fiscal year 2024-25, VVS provided services to more than 1,500 survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, including nearly 9,500 bed nights provided and answered almost 1,300 crisis hotline calls, a 28% increase from the previous year.
Gracie and Tivona Moskoff, the sister duo that is Kaleidoscope Redrocks, said they enjoyed performing at last year’s Twice Nice Spring Thrifty event and are “excited and honored” to play again in 2026.
“It’s unfortunate that domestic violence exists in our society. Verde Valley Sanctuary has been an important organization for us to support in the past with our own fundraising shows, but being part of VVS events is next level,” the Moskoffs said in a joint statement. “Their mission is an invaluable service to our community for which we are grateful to participate.”
PARKING AND DONATIONS
During the Twice Nice Spring Thrifty event, the main parking lot at the front of the Twice Nice store facing State Route 89A will be closed to the public, so Bergner asked that all visiting community members turn on Airport Road (going south) via State Route 89A, then turn right (West) into the Sedona Elks Lodge where parking is available.
Community members have two options to drop off items. The first is the Sedona Elks Lodge parking lot where VVS staff and volunteers will be available to lend a hand and collect donation items for the store with a box truck ready for storage. The second option is for visitors to continue driving through the Sedona Elks Lodge parking lot and stop at the store’s intake gate on the west side of the property, then exit onto State Route 89A.
VVS will also host the 2026 Fall Thrifty event on Saturday, Oct. 3, at its Twice Nice Thriftique location in Camp Verde on 527 S. Main St. Watch for more details on that event come summertime at VerdeValleySanctuary.org.
