Cottonwood AZ (June 1, 2017) – At 9:17 am June 1, 2017 Verde Valley Fire District was dispatched to a wild land fire on 89a mile post 359, cause by a vehicle that had the front tire come off of the vehicle, causing sparks and hot metal to ignite the weeds along the road. Crews were able to stop the spread of the fire within 15 minutes of arriving on scene. The fire was completely extinguished with the assistance of Sedona Fire District, Prescott National Forest Service and ADOT.
As a reminder, Verde Valley Fire District has implemented a Fire Ban effective today, June 1, 2017 in cooperation with the National Forest Service and Yavapai County. No open burning is allowed in the Fire District, gas barbecues and charcoal barbeques that have covers are permitted. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution and good judgment.
