… spent much of this evening going through photos that I have taken on train trips, focusing mainly on a trip I took back in the 2000’s which started with a friend giving me a ride back to the east coast in his Learjet. From there the biggest part of the trip was by Amtrak from Penn Station in NYC to Emeryville, California. Travel via the Lake Shore Express from Penn Station to Chicago, thence The California Zephyr to Emeryville.

I spent a few days with my friend and his family on the farm in Pennsylvania before visiting my younger daughter and her family in Connecticut … then to Penn Station and the beautiful relaxing and civilized way to travel.

My friend and his boys were into model building and flying … the image above is of a life sized bronze of a young boy launching a glider into flight that I spent some time with turning the photograph into a piece of art. … remembrances of days when all of us were younger and expanding our thoughts and horizons into flight … the usual crashes and rebuilding the glider … things would turn out better the next time … for sure!

Below is a photograph that I took from the California Zephyr in the fertile farmland in Illinois after leaving Chicago … morning found us in Denver. I wonder if this long forgotten home is still there … I wonder what memories are held in the home … what happened to the people who lived there?

Miles on the tracks are lying before me and trips being planned … check train travel out for yourself.

Into the weekend and the plan is to be back Monday morning … have a beautiful weekend and enjoy the gift of life … keep breathing, be kind and always, SMILE.

    Cheers,
    Ted

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with
yourself. You are a child of the universe no less
than the trees and stars; you have a right to be
here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no
doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefor be at peace with God, whatever you
conceive Him to be. And whatever you labors
and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep
peace in your soul. With all its shame, drudgery
and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
    Be cheerful.
    Strive to be happy.

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
