… more years ago than I can remember our friend, Anne, brought us some Iris rhizomes which she told us were from the original Iris gardens of Sedona Schnebly. We planted them in the front yard and they have alternatively thrived and stressed in the ensuing years … they are thriving this year. The photo below was taken five days ago and the photo above of the same stalk was taken this afternoon after I finished roasting coffee … from there to the backyard and relaxation in the shade of late afternoon.

No bobcats or coyotes showed up this afternoon, nor cougars … in the wee hours of today I was listening to a Cougar (Mountain Lion) screaming for several minutes so I was kind of hoping, but nos such luck. Enjoy this YouTube video anyway. The cougar sounded to be in the arroyo just beyond the tee box in back. I have seen cougars in the neighborhood, but not for a while. I have subscribed to this persons YouTube channel for years; he has a series of trail cameras set up in the Angeles National Forest and many of the shots are from the mountains looking our over Los Angeles. Highly recommend it to you.

Into the weekend and planning on a great one … for you too. Smile, keep breathing and be kind … back Monday morning, such is the plan.

    Cheers,

    Ted

To you who walk in shadows dark
    And keenly hark
For kindly words if but to live,
    Myself I give,
My life and all my heart and hand
    Here where I stand.
‘Tis thus that both our lives will grow
    I know.

I bring but this one common thought
    My life has wrought;
That from the dregs of drear despair
    Still everywhere
There is a joy I yet may sip—
    ‘Tis comradeship
With all mankind, the high and low
    I know.

    Beatles Tribute at Blazin’ M

I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
