    … and it passed brilliantly!

    …today was the first real test of my new Canon 200mm – 800mm zoom lens … it was down to the lake at 6AM this morning. Lighting conditions were near perfect, and the water was relatively flat … in short, a perfect day to be on the water. To top it off there was an abundance of wildlife everywhere we went and after four hours I collected 1200 shots … now down to 350 and at least another 200 will find their way to the bit bucket. Except for unusual circumstances I do not keep more than ten percent of shots taken and striving for 5%.

    The shot above is of a Rock Squirrel near the shore in a back bay … he took a few moments out of his busy schedule to show off for us and strike numerous poses before scurrying off to continue his day. The detail of his whiskers and fur is terrific.

    The shot below is of an Osprey as he left his perch and flew directly at us … maybe he was thinking that sinking talons in us was a possibility? Again, the new lens performed flawlessly (the body too) keeping a head on shot in perfect focus as he flew at us.

    Many more great shots which I will be working up in the coming days.

    Into the weekend …. have fun, smile and be kind … pitching photography as a career at the job fair at the high school tomorrow morning … maybe law, gem cutting and jewelry making too? Perhaps aviation or starting a business or five? Smiles!

    Cheers,

    I bring but this one common thought
    My life has wrought;
    That from the dregs of drear despair
    Still everywhere
    There is a joy I yet may sip—
    ‘Tis comradeship
    With all mankind, the high and low
    I know.

    Does it Really Matter?

    Does it matter if life is illusory or real, if this a material world like most everyone thinks or a dream? It looks and feels real, it offers sensations and feelings that attest to its realness.
