… in the Painted Desert, a few miles SSW of Grand Falls is Roden Crater, the art project of James Turrell. Turrell bought the crater back in the 1970’s and has been working on the project ever since. He reshaped the cinder cone of the ancient cinder cone and has from what I hear, the art project will be open to the public within a few years. You can learn more about the artist and the project at: http://rodencrater.com/  . The website is very well done and lots of photos inside and outside the volcanic cone.

In this photo the Little Colorado river runs to the right of and above Roden on its way to the Confluence some 60 or so miles away. On the horizon left is the East Kaibab Monocline a very prominent feature of the Colorado Plateau. The prominence is around 700 feet and on the right side of it is the road to Desert View at the Grand Canyon. The features and colors of the Painted Desert are beautiful and a favorite place to fly.

Another reminder about the Sedona Photofest which is this Friday through Sunday … I am presenting at 1PM at Courtyard by Marriott and the room holds about 75 people. Checkout the website at: http://sedonaphotofest.org/The presentations are free … and worth much more than that. Treat yourself to a beautiful experience and be prepared to be in awe!

Have a wonderful day … smile, you are here and what a place to be.

    Cheers

is patient where the way is hard, has faith when he does not understand, and carries

    Does it Really Matter?

Does it matter if life is illusory or real, if this a material world like most everyone thinks or a dream? It looks and feels real, it offers sensations and feelings that attest to its realness.
