… I drove down to Sampley’s Airport in Aguila, for an after soaring hangar party yesterday … saw some friends from other days and met some new ones … swarms of gnats added protein to the hamburgers and hotdogs, but nothing can change the beautiful lines of a high performance sailplane that has just spent hours in the sky covering hundreds of miles guided only by the mind of the pilot who is at home in the cockpit and senses and utilizes every vagary of the atmosphere. The sailplane is an ASW-27 and as much as I loved every minute flying high performance ships I am okay with the memories of thousands of hours and flights over 23 years. The beauty of the sport never diminishes, nor does the neat people in the sport!

Below is a photo of one of my neighbors, she is young and already self sufficient. They live among us silently and occasionally reveal themselves to us … sometimes we even get to spend some time with them and get to know each other. What an amazing little planet we live on!

Starting another new week, nothing is written on the slate yet, but methinks that it will be a great week … keep breathing, smile and be kind!

    With joy,

    Ted

To you who walk in shadows dark
    And keenly hark
For kindly words if but to live,
    Myself I give,
My life and all my heart and hand
    Here where I stand.
‘Tis thus that both our lives will grow
    I know.

I bring but this one common thought
    My life has wrought;
That from the dregs of drear despair
    Still everywhere
There is a joy I yet may sip—
    ‘Tis comradeship
With all mankind, the high and low
    I know.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
