… above we have a Bald Eagle about to land on a rocky outcrop from one of the islands in lake Pleasant … looks like a bit of a messy business, but then it was how many millennia before we had tablecloths and utensils? Dishwashers and napkins? After he finishes his meal, he will leave the leftovers for the scavengers who clean up the mess … enter the Turkey Vulture, part of nature’s waste management system.

Below are two shots in a series of 91 shots of a Great Egret flying out to a small patch of water in the lake where there was a swarm of baitfish swarming on the surface. In the first photo he has plunged into the water and nabs the fish (Uncle Charlie) and eight frames and about a half second later he is rising from the water with Charlie looking back at all his family who have their heads poked above the water behind his feet … “bye bye Uncle Charlie!” Fish are one of the universal food sources and I think everything including other fish eat them too … I prefer beef!

Back up on the cliff early morning and we’ll see how the kids are growing … about three more weeks before they fledge (leave the nest on first flight).

New coffee roaster on the way, my almost new one malfunctioned yesterday and cooked a lot more than the coffee beans … oh well, the new one looks like a better one than what I had. For the finest coffee beans, you can find anywhere, contact my friends at Burmann Coffee if you have not tried your hand at roasting, you should give it a try … there is no resemblance to the stuff they sell in the stores, and you get to determine the roast you prefer.

Into the weekend for me and back Monday morning. Choose to have beautiful days … smile and keep breathing … the best way to start any day!

    Cheers,

    Ted

May I not forget that poverty and riches are of the spirit.
Though the world know me not, may my thoughts and
actions be such as shall keep me friendly with myself.
Lift my eyes from earth, and let me not forget the uses
    of the stars.

… and may the evening’s twilight find me gentle still.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
