… this diminutive dark headed junko was running up a perch that my friend Eric has in his backyard and I spent the last two mornings shooting the birds and critters that he feeds on a daily basis. Little wonder that I have none in my yard, but of course if I put out food for them, I am sure that I would get a few.

Back to the junko … immediately after this frame he took a hard right turn and went into flight and I captured the first half second of his flight … six more shots … but I like this one the best with him seemingly heading up the runway and into flight over the abyss.

Behind in emails again and hope to catch up over the next few days … sorry.

I have friends who are displaying in the Sedona Visual Arts Coalition 2020 Exhibit at the Sedona Art Center in uptown, beginning February 4th. Liz Learmont with her life sculpture/masks, Clark Sheppard with his beautiful paintings, Paul Kanter with his great photography and Mary Helsaple who is one of the finest artists I have known in just about every medium. There is going to be a reception on February 7th between 5 and 8 in the evening at the art center; enjoy meeting the artists and take a look at their beautiful creations.

Busy week almost underway … enjoy the moment, for in that moment and none other, you are alive!

    Cheers,

    Ted

Meditation, softened by the peaceful lands of grain and
the illimitable blue sea overhead, draws my heart to
my lips as one whose talent is in song.

I yield to the thousand felicities of this transport, like a
child led by his father’s hand; and no questions darken
    this day of my content.

    Analyzing City’s Legal Right to
    Ban OHVs on Public Roads

    By Tommy Acosta
Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Maxima Culpa! I screwed up. Blew it. Totally made a fool of myself. Missed the boat. I am talking about my editorial on the OHV fight, No Legal Traction on OHVs. I assumed that it was ADOT that would make a decision on whether the city could legally ban off road vehicles from our public roads like S.R. 89A and S.R. 179. Man was I off. ADOT has nothing to do with allowing or disallowing the city to do so. ADOT’s response to me when I asked them to clarify their position, was curt and to the point. “ADOT designs, builds and maintains the state highway system,” I was told. “It is not our place to offer an opinion on how state law might apply in this matter.” It was a totally “duh” moment for me when I realized that that the decision or judgement on the OHV ordinance, would involve the state and not ADOT. Chagrinned I stand. The crux of the matter then is whether the city can effectively use a number of standing state laws that can be interpreted to determine whether the city can legally ban the vehicles or not.
