    … as I was working on the presentation I am giving at the Verde Valley Bird and Nature Festival 2025 this Thursday morning at 10AM, I spent several hours just going through saved folders looking for beauty, and I found it. The photograph above is of a Caspian Tern that was migrating through here and below is a shot of two Black Crowned Night Herons that were with a much larger group that were building nests and breeding in the area. A couple of the birds which are less commonly seen in the area, but which are beautiful to observe in their natural habitat.

    The Verde Valley Bird and Nature Festival 2025 is going on April 24th through the 27th. Click on the name to go to their website and if interested sign up … lots of activities and presentations. Mine is at 10AM on Thursday at the Cottonwood Recreation Center on 6th Avenue.

    Have an absolutely beautiful day, seek beauty and you will find it … we are surrounded and immersed in it. Smile, keep breathing and be kind!

    Cheers,

    Ted

    Work as if thy task were made for thee;
    Be strong as if thou had courage,
    And charitable as if thou had been rewarded;
    Remain poor if riches are dishonorable,
    And carry poverty with the dignity of virtue.
    When others dine sumptuously, eat thy crust;
    Let love be thy guide and justice thy God—
    Not for thyself alone, but for all men.
    Pursuing these things thou wilt be misjudged
    And, in the gloaming of thy days, forgotten;
    Then, uncomplaining, lie thou down at even,
    Cheered by the love in thy heart,
    And by the full-grown soul of thy charity;
    Then hast thou won the heroic battle,
    Yet not stained with blood;
    But in the garden of love and sacrifice,
    Hast thou planted serenely growing flowers,
    That shall still blow when thou dost slumber
    In the shadow-land of dreamless sleep.
