… formation in Sycamore Canyon is this S type rock formation about a third of the way up the canyon from the confluence of Sycamore Creek and the Verde River … it is visible, but not like this from the gap between Casner and Black Mountains looking directly west. You have to be in a special attitude and at altitude to get this view. So far this remarkable canyon is not over loved and hoping that lasts for many years to come. I also flew over the very top of the canyon about fifteen miles up canyon to the NW … it branches into three smaller canyons near the top and there is a neat lake within a mile or so of the longest section to the NW. There are quite a few small lakes on the plateau between Williams and Sycamore Canyon, but I have yet to get a photograph of them that I like; need to fly much lower over them near sunset to get the picture I want.

A fun day today … more time simply enjoying life and everything in it rather than work on projects. Tomorrow it will be projects, September is here and the calendar needs to be finished this week … greeting cards need to be finished and ordered … presentations need to be prepared. The next open to the public presentation I will be giving will be on December 6th , 10:30 AM at Red Rock Ranger Station on SR179 just south of the Village. This will focus on the forests and critters within their district and it will include a lot of aerial shots. It is early … plan to include this in your must do things in December.

Time to wrap the day … espresso to be consumed, a couple of delicious scones await the espresso to wash them down … but first some rest. Hope your day was the best you have ever lived and if not, try to make the new day the best ever. Always our choice how we choose to live and perceive it, no one else gets to dictate that.

    Cheers

    Ted

The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols
    By Tommy Acosta
Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
