… Minneapolis consistently ranks high in lists of good places to live and there are many wonderful outdoor and indoor activities to take advantage of. Today was another rain day so after a visit with friends this morning, my cousin Arlyn and I took a tour of all kinds of places that are memorable to me around here. In and amongst the places was a tour around some of the lakes including this shot of some runners along the shore of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. The downtown skyline of Minneapolis is in the background with the tallest buildings shrouded by low level clouds.

There is a new threat to the Grand Canyon and the Little Colorado canyon … two proposed hydroelectric projects each with two dams each on the Little Colorado which would fill the Little Colorado Canyon and effectively destroy the area and it is close to the confluence of the LC and Colorado rivers. The beauty of the turquoise water of the Little Colorado river will be gone forever. Also plans are afoot to build a mega resort complex that will certainly have a devastating effect on the GC experience. Please check these out and support the Grand Canyon Trust in their efforts to save these precious assets.

Please give a hand … The Grand Canyon Trust works relentlessly to preserve the canyon area for all of us. Give them your support, please.

Travel day tomorrow and finally home. One is looking kinda lonesome and hope that she will not shun me.

Have a beautiful day … keep breathing. Be kind to those you meet and greet and smile.

    O Passer-by, O passer-by!
Have you good words of me
Upon your lips as I draw nigh
    To you each day?
    If so, I ask
    That you’d them say,
For soon I’m gone and cannot hear,
    So speak the kindly word
I beg, and smile while I’m yet near …

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
