… coming out of a great weekend into the new week and new adventures … some not so new. October for some reason is a month that a lot of prescribed burning is done and it typically conflicts with peak color of the aspen groves on the peaks and other mountains and canyons. I took the photo above at an altitude of about 5500′ just east of the airport (4830′) looking towards the east … October 19th 2019. Absent sufficient transport winds, the smoke settles and “slides” down hill as this shot clearly shows … Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek are inundated with smoke from prescribed burns on the plateau. The aspen groves are not very colorful in conditions like this and it has to have an impact on tourism … The Kaibab Forest begins burns on Monday and they will continue through October … I do not have the schedule for the other forests but likely they will be burning too …

Below is a photo of a Common Black Hawk that just caught a small trout at the Rainbow Trout Farm up canyon last Friday … he is just taking off to go to a stump near shore to finish it off. In addition to some of the best rainbow trout you will ever taste, you may get to witness winged diners come in for theirs! They give it a five star rating!

October 27th at 3:30PM is my upcoming show on the Alice Gill-Sheldon Theater. It is going to be a great show and hope you will make it. The smaller venue is a much more intimate setting and I am hooked on it.

Enjoy the gift of this new day and our chance to make it the best one ever … keep breathing, give thanks and share your joy with those you meet and greet each day … it is addictive!

    Cheers,

    Ted

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully
surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength
of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with
yourself. You are a child of the universe no less
than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be
here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no
doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
