    … going back to some of my favorites tonight. Above is a shot I took from roughly the intersect of SR 179 and Beaver Head Flat Road looking N towards the Village of Oak Creek and about 7 miles beyond that lies the city of Sedona. Red Rock Ranger Station on the right of SR 179 at the bottom of the photograph. We have three golf courses in the Village which is why we ended up here and not Sedona … we live on what is now the 11th tee box of Oak Creek Country Club which is the top golf club on the left of SR 179. No, no one has ever hit a golf ball into our yard, abut about 6 years ago a disgruntled golfer threw his driver through a living room window … an expensive temper tantrum! I took up soaring in the fall of 1996 and by 2002 my golfing days were over and early on in my soaring days I began to explore and record the beauty of Arizona from the air.

    Below is a photo of a Black Phoebe coming in for a landing on a steel post at the ponds after a flight to rid the area of insects that were hatching … natures insect “repellent” … another cog in the overall plan of life on earth.

    Have a beautiful day today and keep breathing and smiling … you are here!

    With joy,

    Ted

    One morn I rose and looked upon the world.
    “Have I been blind until this hour?” I said.
    O’er every trembling leaf the sun had spread,
    And was like golden tapestry unfurled;
    And as the moments passed more light was hurled
    Upon the drinking earth athirst for light;
    And I, beholding all this wondrous sight,
    Cried out aloud, “O God, I love Thy world!”
    And since that waking, often I drink deep
    The joy of dawn, and peace abides with me;
    And though I know that I again shall see
    Dark fear with withered hand approach my sleep,
    More sure am I when lonely night shall flee,
    At dawn the sun will bring good cheer to me.
