… an exceptional morning and in the top photo the three red tail chicks are all lined up on the front of the nest … pay attention to the chick back row right, because less than a second after this he fledged by leaping over the red tail chick in the front and entered flight for the very first time. It was like, “okay, what do I do now?” Simple, he figured out to use his wings to fly and soar by having them in a fixed position. He didn’t return to the nest while I was there. The other two chicks look a little younger and it may be a day or two before they fledge too.

Below is a shot of a House Finch nest tucked in a crevice about 30′ in front of me on the cliff face … nor predators will be getting in there and again we have three chicks that will be fledging soon!

Want to learn more about the cliff and the home at the top of it?

Teresa Traverse of Sedona Monthly did a feature article on this magnificent home in the June issue. Check it out, the home is the vision of my friend and read about how he brought his dream to a reality! It is fascinating.

This was a special edition because of the events this morning … second year in a row that I have captured the first red tail chick fledging … wow!

Have a beautiful day … smile, you are here!

To you, my boy, the only world I know.
Remember this: whichever course you choose,
You’ll sometimes turn about and walk awhile
The other way, for none of human kind
Is all of good or all of evil made.
Let this and honest poverty not turn
Your heart in bitterness and wild despair
To hardened thoughts of Him who made all things.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
