… back up on the tram early morning today and again it was a real treat. The photo above is one of the two red tail chicks that fledged yesterday and is on a ridgeline about 450 feet from me and perhaps a hundred feet above the ground. From the looks of it he scored a meal with a small rodent that he captured a few seconds previous to the shot.

The second one that fledged yesterday was seen flying in the neighborhood while this little one was downing his meal … good survival skills … want food? Go get it!

Meanwhile, back at the nest one lone bird is still in the nest and he is shown in the photo below … for a while I thought I would get a shot of him going off the edge, but it didn’t happen although I suspect he fledged this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest. The nest is kind of a nasty place to be right now and time for nature and Merry Maids to clean it out.

After the morning shoot it was nice to head up the tram and have coffee and a bit to eat with my friends and play a bit with their son, Jackson.
