… it has been kind of a tumultuous week and it got me thinking about my forever shots … the shots that carry the feeling of forever and will always present themselves as they did on the day that I captured them. Next week is going to be on about the same level as this so expect Monday to see some more of this genre.

The photo above I got near sunset up on the Colorado Plateau … Kendrick Peak is on the left horizon and the San Francisco Peaks on the right … in the center are volcanic cones further to the north and no sign of humanity is present. Along the shadow line near mid image is A-1 Crater, one of my favorites because of the shot I got of it on the way back to Sedona one evening. I tried printing a large print of this image but it doesn’t work, only the backlit image works.

The photo below is a lineup shot I took with Sunset Crater in mid photo and on the horizon from the left is Mt. Elden, the San Francisco Peaks and on the right in the distance Kendrick Peak … about 3 million years of history on display in both photographs.

O SWEET content! where is thy mild abode
Where I may dwell in endless peace?
    Show me the much-sought road
    And give the lease.

The answer came, “Then cease to vainly roam
In search of me, for thou wilt find
    Mu quiet, hidden home
    Within thy mind.”

    Beatles Tribute at Blazin’ M

I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
