… it was a great weekend and in and amongst the things, I spent some time watching videos of soaring … actually quite a few hours and find it almost as addicting as actually doing it. Here is a link to a pretty neat video and think you will enjoy it. Cool flying and cool music … cannot visualize myself without a soaring machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azIRvqGDK4A. and the photo tonight is one I took while working ridge lift running the west slope of the San Francisco Peaks in February, from Agassiz to Humphreys at about 12,000’ and by the time I got to Humphreys I was only a couple hundred feet below the peak which is 12,633’. I like the paths cut through the snow in the right side of the image by skiers.

A friend is currently working on some devices to hold GoPro cameras so I can shoot video from the vertical stab forward and also the end of the wings . I love the stills, but the video brings you into the moment as it is being lived. This video is about 20 minutes long flying ridge lift in the Wasatch Range in Utah, last September: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-uXgr4ibbA and he talks you through the flight. Lots of other videos too if you’re interested. The pilot is Bruno Vassel and he has many good ones to watch.

Had a nice flight this morning and a fun rest of the day and now a new week is underway … have a beautiful day, smile and enjoy life whilst you have it.

    Cheers

    Ted

    Analyzing City’s Legal Right to
    Ban OHVs on Public Roads

    By Tommy Acosta
Mea Culpa! Mea Culpa! Mea Maxima Culpa! I screwed up. Blew it. Totally made a fool of myself. Missed the boat. I am talking about my editorial on the OHV fight, No Legal Traction on OHVs. I assumed that it was ADOT that would make a decision on whether the city could legally ban off road vehicles from our public roads like S.R. 89A and S.R. 179. Man was I off. ADOT has nothing to do with allowing or disallowing the city to do so. ADOT’s response to me when I asked them to clarify their position, was curt and to the point. “ADOT designs, builds and maintains the state highway system,” I was told. “It is not our place to offer an opinion on how state law might apply in this matter.” It was a totally “duh” moment for me when I realized that that the decision or judgement on the OHV ordinance, would involve the state and not ADOT. Chagrinned I stand. The crux of the matter then is whether the city can effectively use a number of standing state laws that can be interpreted to determine whether the city can legally ban the vehicles or not.
