    … cruising the skyways of Northern Arizona is a pleasure of the finest kind because you are always surrounded by beauty that is found in very few places on earth. The photo above was shot from E of the SE side of the San Francisco Peaks. Lockett Meadow is over the ridge line near the right side, mid photo near the right side. Lockett Meadow is at an elevation of 8600′ msl and I was flying at an altitude of 9600′ msl. The aspen in full color can be seen running up the inner basin … on the left side you see Agassiz Peak capped in snow the peak on the right side is Rees Peak and above that Aubineau Peak, Humphreys Peak (12,633′, is obscured by clouds.)

    Below is a photo of the greater Sedona area with all signs of civilization carefully removed. On the horizon, left of mid photo is Bill Williams Mountain which at roughly 3.8 million years of age is among the early volcanoes to erupt in the San Francisco Volcanic Field. The field covers roughly 1800 sq miles and has more than 600 volcanic cones in it.

    Into the weekend and again the plan is to be back Monday morning with new photos to get the week off to a great start. Take care, keep breathing and smile, for you are here!

    Cheers

    Ted

    I ask no odds of any man,
    I am not one that follies sway.
    I am the source of my rewards,
    I do my work each day.

    The fruit of trees, the grain of fields,
    Wherever use and beauty lurk—
    The good of all the world belongs
    To him who does his work.

    It matters not if rich or poor.
    This is the future’s great command,
    Who does not work shall cease to eat;
    Upon this rock I stand.

    Though work bring naught of power
    nor wealth
    Spare me from want of common needs,
    And give a share of manly health,
    A few good friends of honest deeds;

    And till death’s peaceful slumber nears
    A life of undishonored years.
