    … a couple of shots from this spring on Lake Pleasant during the migration and breeding season … above is a group of Avocets in breeding plumage coming in for landing very close to us. Avocets are a beautiful shorebird that we see at the lake in fall and spring. A habit of theirs is that when they spook and go into flight, they tend to fly away from you but circle out and come back to land very close to where they have taken off from. This is an opportunity to get shots of them coming in head on … if all goes well you can get a shot like this!

    Below is a shot of a Great Egret rising from a tree branch in the lake … a combination of a strong leap and powerful wing beats propels him skyward … looks like it will be next week before I get the boat back down to the lake … still 100+F degree days down there and I just can’t make myself do that. The new rig for all electric is ready to go and maybe next week for that too. Lots of opportunities are available now … life is good!

    Have a beautiful day … smile and share the joy you find in life!

    Cheers,

    Ted

    I ask no odds of any man,
    I am not one that follies sway.
    I am the source of my rewards,
    I do my work each day.

    The fruit of trees, the grain of fields,
    Wherever use and beauty lurk—
    The good of all the world belongs
    To him who does his work.

    It matters not if rich or poor.
    This is the future’s great command,
    Who does not work shall cease to eat;
    Upon this rock I stand.

    Though work bring naught of power
    nor wealth
    Spare me from want of common needs,
    And give a share of manly health,
    A few good friends of honest deeds;

    And till death’s peaceful slumber nears
    A life of undishonored years.

    Beatles Tribute at Blazin’ M

    I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
