    … frequently after taking off on R21 I crank and bank left following Verde Valley School Road through the Big Park area to the Village and then pick my departure route from there. I took this shot just as I was entering the Village area and if you live in the area you can likely see where you live. Verde Valley School Road enters the image on the lower right side, goes up and to the right a bit before a bend to the left and to SR179 where it joins a round a bout. SR 179 is in the upper third of the photo and runs left to right in the photo … turn right and you are headed S towards I-17 and if you turn left you head N through the wilderness area and towards Sedona … Go straight across the highway and you enter the Jacks Canyon area and the little enclave in the upper left quadrant is Pine Valley. The far valley visible beginning in the upper right portion is Woods Canyon and runs to the left behind Horse Mesa. Castle Rock is on the left side and above it in the Jacks Canyon area is Lees Mountain, shrouded in clouds.The golf course in the center part of the photo is Oak Creek Country Club which is where One and I live … the golf course on the upper right side is the Sedona Resort course, commonly called the Ridge.

    For those who want to burrow in a little deeper, just below where the © symbol in my signature is on Verde Valley School Road, if you turn left you are going on Red Rock Cove Road and further down VV School Road where the lakes are on the course is Bell Rock Boulevard. Doesn’t look like you are in your pool Eric 🙂

    The shot was taken from 6,000′ and the terrain is about 4,200′ … legal overflight is 1,000′ above the terrain or about 5,200′.

    If you think it is a beautiful place to live, you are right … the colors and the moods of the rocks change by the minute and after 28 years here I cannot think of another place I would rather live … blessed for sure.

    If you want a copy of this photo let me know … no plans to add it to the online portfolio, but it will print a great high res image up to 40 x 60 inches.

     … stay cool or warm depending on where you are and focus  on the beauty that surrounds you … the physical world and the people and critters we share it with … and smile!

    “This is my world,” I cried, “and these who pass
    Shall all with pride be glad to call me friend;
    This mighty city shall yet know my name,
    And here upon this street I’ll have a house,
    Where love will greet my evening’s quickened
    step”.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

    One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
