… yesterday we scored some amazing shots on Lake Mary … last week we checked an Osprey nest, and the kids were still hanging around on the edge of the nest and not flying. Yesterday when we got in their neighborhood they were on the edge of the nest and going out on the limbs of the tree that the nest is built in … lots of wing flapping like the Red Tails that I shot just before they fledged and then it happened, one of the Osprey chicks spread his wings and went airborne over his sibling in the top photo … very cool!
The second shot shows him about midway between perching trees and he passed over the top of one of the pines enroute to his destination which was another dead tree … he is just tucking his legs and talons up … wheels up 🙂
The shot below captures his landing in the new tree and his talons are just gripping the branch he is landing on … a perfect view of the lakeshore and he is looking for food in the water. The second Osprey chick fledged a few minutes later and we got that series too. What fun and good fortune to be there at the moment they fledged!
Into the weekend … hard to believe the week has gone so fast … have a beautiful weekend and smile, you are alive … and keep breathing, my favorite exercise!
Smiles,
Ted
ONE morn I rose and looked upon the world.
“Have I been blind until this hour?” I said.
O’er every trembling leaf the sun had spread,
And was like golden tapestry unfurled;
And as the moments passed more light was hurled
Upon the drinking earth athirst for light;
And I beholding all this wondrous sight,
Cried out aloud. “O God, I love Thy world!”
And since that waking, often I drink deep
The joy of dawn, and peace abides with me;
And though I know again I shall see
Dark fear with withered hand approach my sleep,
More sure am I when lonely night shall flee,
At dawn the sun will bring good cheer to me.
