… as I rambled through folders of images tonight I wanted water … lots of it and so I found myself in folders with shots from Roosevelt Lake that I took a couple of years ago. Roosevelt Lake is the largest lake/reservoir located entirely within the state of Arizona and at 33.58 square miles and 22.4 miles long it is almost three times the size of Lake Pleasant. It is formed by Theodore Roosevelt Dam on the Salt River, about 80 miles NE of Phoenix … maximum depth is 349 feet.

The photo above is of a White Pelican that was cruising low over the water about a half mile off shore. The American White Pelican is one of the largest and most beautiful birds in the country with wingspans in the neighborhood of nine feet!

Below is a shot of a Ring-billed Gull performing some aerobatics as he came in for some food (cat food) that I had thrown into the water near the boat and this gull along with several others got it all within minutes. Few things are more fun to watch than gulls coming in for food … something to get a little action when everything else is shutdown.

Into the weekend. There is beauty to capture, espresso to down … and hours of life to enjoy! Choose to live each moment you are granted and smile … we are here … for real!

    Cheers,

    Ted

Love men and truth, and poverty most like
Will dine with you, but peace will feed your soul.
Let selfishness guide all your thoughts and acts,
And in old age your storehouse may be full
Of grain and goods; for truth and love of men
Will garner only peace and inward joy.
Some fathers would speak otherwise to sons
Held dear; and yet I’ve ke[t my faith and shown
To you my boy, the only world I know.
Remember this: whichever course you choose,
You’ll sometimes turn about and walk awhile
The other way, for none of human kind
Is all of good or all of evil made.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
