Simply mention the words “the deeper life,” and depending on the audience there will be a variety of responses. On the one hand, a rip-roaring theatrical display of thoughtless approval, replete with all forms of mannerism and babble, a clear acknowledgment that you are in the company of the few that “get it.” On the other hand, a tacit assent, accompanied by a polite smile, a nodding of the head, perhaps more a display of courtesy than anything else, while what really underscores all of this in their thinking is a confident sense that you’re a certifiable nut job! A myriad of views reactions and responses fill what’s in between the two extremes!

Is the deeper life and its claims a fiction, a hiding place for the delusional, an escape for the slothful, a business model for the self-styled cosmic guru (also known as a con man or woman), who will lead “the lost” into the light? Is it a genuine lifelong spiritual journey, where its dedicated adherents are assured of an ever-deepening consciousness of their life-purpose and an acceleration of abundance in its various forms and a discovery of courage and confidence never before realized?

The answer is YES to all of the above. It all depends on which deeper life is in view!

Be mindful that on one level, the so-called deeper life will have within its dogma, a litany of promises that require “the student” to do and give up relatively little in return for a promise of much, a quick fix (like buying a book, a CD, enrolling in a course, attending a seminar, etc.).

On another level, center-stage will be an imposter, whether self-deceived or a con that espouses and promises to deliver a virtual “heaven on earth” to its converts, where all they need to do is turn over all their earthly possessions and then commit the rest of their earthly days with unmitigated allegiance, in support of the charlatan’s empire.

Then, there is the true deeper life, where real and enduring personal transformation and wealth in its various forms inures the one who is committed to paying the price, whatever it happens to be and for as long as it takes, where the SOURCE of all is INFINITE WISDOM. This, in this writer’s view, is the only deeper life worth pursuing, for all others will show themselves to be a mere illusion, a pitiful sham at worst and ephemeral, a fleeting short-lived temporal “high” at best!

The “real deal,” in unmistakable contrast, will make it clear right up front that the road ahead will not be linear nor a short one. It will at times be one foot forward and two steps back. It will have twists and turns, ruts and potholes. It will be one of incremental progress, sometimes painstakingly slow progress. You may be called to muster up the courage to question whether things you once considered inviolate are still what you believe. There will be times when you question whether it’s all worth it. It is!

Should you prevail, one day, when you least expect it, you will be visited by the DIVINE, SOURCE, SPIRIT…GOD! It will be unmistakable! It will then all have been worth it and will serve as the catalyst for you to carry on, to want more, to need more, to go even deeper! Your life will never be the same again! Your health – spiritually, physically, emotionally, psychologically, financially, “the whole nine yards, beautifully transformed!

I’m honored to have been proposed to join with an elite group of Sedona.biz featured writers. It’s my intention to monthly submit a thought-provoking blog, whether designed to cause you to question the veracity of certain things you have believed to be true for, in some cases years, become motivated to get involved in various abusive activities that desperately require a voice, perhaps yours, become empowered with transformative solutions to increase productivity and achieve success, discover a whole new world of self-awareness and so much more.

    Does it Really Matter?

Does it matter if life is illusory or real, if this a material world like most everyone thinks or a dream? It looks and feels real, it offers sensations and feelings that attest to its realness.
