logo_sedonamuseum2Sedona AZ (October 4, 2017) – The Sedona Heritage Museum has announced that one of their almost 50,000 historic images of the greater Sedona area has been selected for inclusion on the 2017 Arizona Archives Month poster.

October is Archives Month, and each year, the Archives and Records Management Division of the Arizona State Library, Archives, and Public Records produces a poster highlighting materials from archives around the state. This year the state is celebrating 100 years since the Arizona Legislature officially adopted the flag. Submissions were to be related to the history of the flag or compelling photographs from Arizona’s past that feature the flag prominently.

The local Museum’s submission was a photo from 1964 of a flag-raising at the Sedona Chamber of Commerce building. The state flag in the photo was donated by Chamber member Marcus McCutchan, and had flown in Korea when he served there. This is at least the 3rd time that a photo from the Sedona Heritage Museum’s collection has been selected to appear on an Archives Month poster.

The Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road in Jordan Historical Park in Uptown Sedona and is open daily 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For more information, call 928-282-7038.
