logo_sedonafiredistrict2Sedona AZ (November 18, 2019) – This November, the Sedona Fire District with support from IAFF Local 3690, and Sedona-Verde Valley Firefighters Charity will be spreading Holiday Cheer to local children of Sedona.  In partnership with Sedona Marine Corps League 1237, Sedona Fire will be collecting Toys for Tots on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 8:00am- 2:00pm.  Firefighters and staff will be located at Safeway in West Sedona and Clarks Market in the Village of Oak Creek.  Please consider bringing a new and unwrapped toy to donate at these locations.  The Sedona Chapter Toys for Tots will be distributing all the toys to local children in hopes of making their holiday season extra special this year.

Sedona Fire Engineer Keith Christofferson says, “In the spirit of Christmas, it is nice to get back to the basics of what this season stands for, a time to give of yourself, give love, and even give presents.  I believe the Toys for Tots program radiates this message and shows others that there are people in the community that care.”

The Sedona Fire District will also be collecting toys from our staff members in the weeks leading up to the toy drive.  We would like to invite our generous community to help make the Holidays special for everyone.  If you would like to donate a toy or two before the toy drive, there are currently toy collection boxes set up at Sedona Fire Stations 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6.  Feel free to stop by to meet your local firefighters and fill the box with toys.  We thank you and wish you a safe and Happy Holidays.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
