Sedona Fire DistrictSedona AZ (May 27, 2020) – The Sedona Fire District continues to efficiently and effectively respond to and mitigate all emergencies within our District and response region. We will continue to overcome the challenges associated with COVID-19.

By referencing CDC guidance, Governor Ducey’s Executive Orders, and collaborating with people all over Sedona, the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau has created safety guidelines reopening businesses may voluntarily choose to adopt.

The Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau would like to encourage Sedona to be Safe, Clean and Ready. Here are the recommended safety guidelines:

    • Stay home if you are sick or in contact with a sick person
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
    • Maintain distance from others (6 ft.)
    • Wear a protective face covering when appropriate (when 6 ft. distancing isn’t possible)
    • Limit physical contact with others
    • Avoid congregating in large groups
    • While hiking, stay on trails giving people room to pass (maintain 6 ft. distance)

The Sedona Fire District supports the guidelines recommended by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau and hope that you will also support these efforts to Be Safe. Be Clean. Be Ready and Be Kind. Because that’s the Sedona way.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
