It is about seeing the beauty in the tragedy and dealing with our grief about loss, realizing that grief and loss are written into the fabric of life.

The concert is “An act of kindness born from loss which fills us with a strange mix of happy and sad all at once. Sad because of so much loss but happy because we choose to share our gift of remembrance with you.” (Lisa Currie/Arvel Bird)

Listen to the original music of Arvel Bird as a means to celebrate and honor the memory of the passengers and crew just as you would honor the memory of someone you may have lost along your own life’s path.

Enjoy the foot-tapping sound of traditional Celtic fiddle with “Farewell to Ireland” and the sound-scape of “Celtic Connection” followed by the dramatic Celtic-flavored tunes of “Fire and Coal”. We honor the legacy of “Father Browne” who took the only known photographs of the Titanic on her maiden voyage as well as the British sea Captain and crew followed by music played from the Titanic 1912 song book which highlights the extravagant wealth of the Edwardian Era.

“Adrift in the Dark” marks the event that stopped the Titanic in the cold water of the North Atlantic and the lucky ones who were able to get into the few lifeboats. Explore the forensic evidence behind the reason the Titanic sank and why so many perished needlessly.

The concert ends with an emotional instrumental called “The Distant Shore” where our hopes and dreams lie. It features the Irish whistle and the violin which lead us to that moment of healing the past as we find our way back to joy. “Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.” Vicki Harrison.

Arvel Bird’s “Titanic Memorial Concert” will be performed at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Saturday, July 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All tickets include a meet-and-greet with Arvel Bird in the lobby after the show.

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
