SEDONA, Ariz. – With the resignation of Mayor Scott Jablow effective Sept. 30, 2025 at 5 p.m., the Sedona city council is currently accepting applications to fill a vacant council seat.

This shift will create the open seat on city council. Following the Council Rules of Procedures, the city council will then appoint someone to fill this open seat, with the term for this vacancy ending in November 2026, when the newly elected councilors are seated following the fall 2026 election cycle.

    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Must be able to speak, write and read the English language.
    • Must reside within the Sedona city limits for one year preceding the appointment.
    • A person convicted of a felony cannot serve as a council member until his/her civil rights have been restored.
    • A person adjudicated as an “incapacitated person” cannot serve as a council member.
