logo_electionSedona AZ (July 22, 2018) – This video shows the closing statements of a 2 hour forum.

On Monday, July 16, 2018, all the city council candidates assembled at Poco Diablo Resort on Highway 179 in Sedona. The purpose of the forum was to introduce Council Candidates to the voters and present their views on issues challenging the Sedona area. The meeting was co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters and the Sedona Chamber of Commerce. The 2 hour Forum included opening remarks by each candidate on what are the three specific things you like best about living in Sedona and what three things you would change about Sedona? The main topics seemed to be quality of life issues, traffic and home rule.  This set the stage for rotating discussions with each candidates. The audience divided into table groups where each candidate could interact with voters on 1-on-1 basis and answer any questions voters had. This was followed by closing remarks where each of the candidates could tell the audience what they learned from the discussions and give to their final remarks on why they want to be on Sedona City Council. Following the forum, candidates were encouraged to make themselves available for further discussion.

Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
