SEDONA, AZ — — In a unanimous vote, the Sedona City Council has approved a Friendship Cities Agreement between Sedona and Jasło, Poland—marking a significant step forward in an international relationship built on mutual cultural, educational, and community interests.

The Sedona Sister Cities Association (SSCA) sought approval following a year of expanding exchanges with the historic Polish city of 35,000 residents, located at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains and known for its 650-year history and growing wine industry.

In 2024, an eight-member Sedona delegation traveled to Jasło to participate in the city’s internationally recognized Days of Wine Festival. The visit laid the groundwork for a February reciprocal trip to Sedona by Jasło’s former Vice Mayor and current chair of Jaslo’s Jaslo/Sedona Friendship Committee.

This summer, representatives from Sedona’s Science Vortex are currently visiting Jasło to explore potential youth science and innovation exchanges. Plans are also underway for Sedona’s Chief Science Officers to participate via Zoom in Jasło’s annual GEN Science Fair this October—strengthening ties in the fields of STEM education and youth leadership.

The connection continues to grow with plans for another Sedona delegation to return to Jasło for this year’s Days of Wine Festival. In a new highlight, representatives of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium have been invited as special guests to present wines from Northern Arizona, fostering dialogue between the wine industries of both regions.

To celebrate this new chapter in Sedona’s international outreach, the SSCA will co-host Sedona’s first Polish Picnic at Posse Grounds Park on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in partnership with the Polish American Congress of Arizona.

Council members praised the inspired work of the Sedona Sister Cities Association and the Jasło Committee, led by Edyta Wieczorek, for their dedication to building a lasting and meaningful connection.

    Whack – A – Mole War

It looks like the tried-and-true method of armed conflict where armies face each other and kill until somebody wins or gives up, now all it takes is assassinating the leadership Israeli style. We enter a new phase of war where the leaders are killed first rather than last as in conventional warfare.
