Sedona AZ (November 28, 2011) – Sedona’s Holiday Tree Lighting & Santa Visit kicks off the holiday season on December 2nd. Entertainment, activities and refreshments will be available free of charge from5:00 to7:00 p.m. atTaosCantinaPlaza onState Route 89A in Uptown.
Come join in holiday carols performed by the Canyon Singers, as generously arranged by Sandra Reid. Then Mayor Rob Adams will light the 17’ holiday tree and Santa will arrive on the Sedona’s Historic Fire Engine No. 1, courtesy of Sedona Heritage Museum and a special escort by Sedona Police Department.
While the children tell Santa all their hopes and dreams, you’ll hear a wide variety of complementary performances by talented community groups. Enjoy the unique sounds of the Trash Pail Kids plus a wide array of songs by the vocal students of Big Park & West Sedona Schools. These include the Ambassadors of Peace fromIsrael, the Coyote Chorus from Big Park Junior High, the Copper’s Crooners of Big Park Elementary and the Wildcat Warblers from West Sedona Elementary, all generously coordinated and directed by Jeanie Carroll. Then the Desert Star Community School Choir will perform as arranged and directed by Deborah Williams, followed by the Windsong Ensemble, an adult vocal group.
Sedona Chamber of Commerce will provide complimentary Polaroid photos with Santa and give each child a sack of treats. All the while, you can enjoy hot cocoa courtesy of Black Cow Café and Hitching Post Restaurant, hot coffee thanks to Pink Java Café, and cookies courtesy of Sedona Fudge Company. Donations by these generous business owners make it possible to provide free refreshments.
The seventeen foot Giant Everest holiday tree was arranged and coordinated by Sedona Main Street Program and made possible by the generosity of community businesses.
This year, the tree was set up and decorated by Sedona Main Street Program’s volunteers from Sedona businesses andSedonaRedRockHigh Schoolbusiness students with Future Business Leaders of America coordinated by Marc Sterling, with assistance fromSedonaCenter, Sedona Chamber and the City ofSedona.
