Sedona AZ (July 15, 2014) – The Friends of the Sedona Public Library are proud to announce that the 2014 Festival of Wreaths will kick off on Sunday, November 9th.  During early November, the Sedona Public Library will be transformed with an exhibition and sale of locally crafted wreaths. The event kicks off with a preview party on Sunday, November 9th at 4 pm, complete with wine, appetizers, musical entertainment, raffle prizes and great company.  All proceeds directly benefit the programs and operating costs of the Sedona Public Library.

Annually the Friends of the Library contribute over $100,000 to help provide library services that are free to our community.  Thanks to your support the Friends of the Library have been able to assist in providing:

    • RFID Self Check Out Stations
    • Summer Reading Programs
    • The Arizona Humanities Council Programs
    • Teen Theatre Programs

There are four ways to get involved and support the Festival of Wreaths.

    Sedona Gift Shop

    1. Make and Donate a Wreath or Table Top Tree
    2. Donate a Raffle or Auction Item
    3. Make a Tax-Deductible Donation to the Friends of the Library
    4. Attend the Preview Party on Sunday, November 9th.

You can be the first to see and purchase this year’s creations at the Festival of Wreaths Preview Party. This fun and festive evening includes wine, appetizers, raffle prizes, silent auction items and musical entertainment.   Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 9th. The party will be from 4 pm to 6:30.  Tickets are $15 each or $25 for two.  Wreaths will go on sale to the public Monday, November 10th during regular Library hours.  Preview Party Tickets will go on sale October 1st and will be available at the reference desk at the Sedona Public Library, the Village of Oak Creek Service Center and at Bashas.

The Sedona Public Library was founded in 1958 by a group of community volunteers.  It is and has always been a privately run Library.  The land on which our beautiful library sits was donated and the library building was constructed with private funds and is entirely debt free.   The Sedona Public Library receives funding to operate from the Friends of the Library, the City of Sedona, Coconino and Yavapai counties and private donations.

For more information about creating a wreath, donating an item or making a cash donation, contact Festival Chairman, San Dee Kinnen (928) 203-4363.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
