    Rummage & Treasures Sale to Benefit Sedona Heritage Museum

    Sedona Heritage MuseumSedona News – The Sedona Heritage Museum will hold a Rummage & Treasures Sale on Saturday, May 7 from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Museum. Proceeds will benefit the Museum’s programs.

    The sale will include many rummage sale type items plus antiques, art, furniture, home decor and tools. Special items already donated include antiques and vintage items, 1890s chocolate pot set, oak table, bar stools, cherry dining hutch, mid-cent mod end tables, and other furniture and lamps, jewelry, collectibles, smoker, original art from subjects of Native American to animals, small kitchen appliances, garden bench and planters, and much more. Some items are new in the box.

    Anyone who would like to donate to the sale can bring their items directly to the Museum at 735 Jordan Rd. in Uptown between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Pickup of furniture donations in advance by arrangement. No clothing please. Tax receipts available. For information, call 928-282-7038.

    Short Term Rentals — Some Thoughts to Consider

    Reports of Sedona’s death have been greatly exaggerated. There is no question that Short Term Rentals (STR) have changed the character of housing in Sedona. In past years, Sedona homes owned by out-of-towners were rented to locals at fair or below-market prices, and this market subsidy was advantageous for both renter and owner. The renter could rent a lovely home in a tourist town. The homeowner received rent to help pay for their future home with a caretaker to look after their investment. This symbiotic relationship worked for both parties, especially for Sedona’s business. When the state of Arizona passed SB-1350 in 2016, it changed this relationship. Now the homeowner could hire a professional company to manage and rent out their home as a STR and make enough to pay for the mortgage with a little (sometimes a lot) leftover, and the local governments can do nothing to stop it.
