Friends of the Verde RiverCottonwood AZ (August 3, 2021) – Friends of the Verde River is accepting applications for projects taking place in the calendar year of 2022. Projects are funded by businesses that participate in the River Friendly Living program.

More than 30 local businesses and their customers contribute to the River Friendly Living grant program which creates funding in support of projects aimed towards improving sustainable water supply, clean water, healthy habitat, and our community’s connection to the Verde River.

20210803_friendsverderiverIn 2021, three grants were awarded: $5,000 to the Verde River Institute for the operation of the Verde River Ambassadors; $5,000 to the Verde Village Property Owners Association for improvements to the Verde River Nature Preserve; and, $2,500 for the construction of a bike skills park at the Mountainview Preparatory School.

In 2022, Friends of the Verde River is expanding the grant opportunity to attract more applicants with projects seeking to improve the Verde River system. In addition to nonprofits and municipalities, Friends will now accept proposals from businesses as well. Applicants must be engaged in efforts to preserve, enhance, and promote the Verde River system.

Grants are limited to a maximum of $5,000 each and will be awarded on a competitive basis. There is no minimum request amount. Total granted funds will not exceed $10,000.
